I had the pleasure of catching up with Kayden Lee, the author of Abandoned Angel. I wrote a review about this book which you can read by clicking here.
I asked her a few questions, in hopes of learning more about the author. After all, behind every book is another story and I was interested in learning about Kayden's. Join me as we embark on a journey into discovery.
Budden: What does being an author mean to you?
Kayden: I have dreamed of being an author for as long as I can remember. To me, it represents success on a very personal level. Writing is something that I take great pride in, and knowing that I have created a story that others enjoy reading is very exciting.
Budden: When did you first realize that you wanted to write and publish a book? How old/young were you at the time?
Kayden: My desire to write began in elementary school. I loved the positive feedback I received in school and from my parents, and from then on, I was hooked.
Budden: From its inception, how long did it take you to write and publish your first book? Was the experience mostly rewarding or filled with varying levels of frustration?
Kayden: I hate to admit it, but it took me about three years to publish Abandoned Angel. Writing the story was exciting, fulfilling and went smoothly, but finding the time and confidence to commit to the publishing process was often frustrating. Luckily, through trial and error, I have developed a positive writing routine that works for me.
Budden: Are you currently writing another book which you hope to publish at some point? If so, we'd love to hear more about it.
Kayden: I am currently working on a suspense/thriller about a road trip taken by three carefree college women. Intrigued by rural America, their adventurous spirit leads them off the beaten path, piloting through back roads full of small towns and interesting people. After becoming stranded on a dead end street, the girls accept the help of seemingly friendly strangers, only to discover that people and places are not always as they seem.
Budden: Who has been a major source of inspiration for you as a writer/author?
Kayden: I think, in one form or another, the author of every book I read inspires me. Some of my favorite authors are Lisa Gardner, Dean Koontz, James Patterson, Wendy Corsi Staub, and John Grisham.
Budden: What is your ultimate dream, in terms of being a writer/author?
Kayden: Naturally, my ultimate dream is to be able to make a living off my writing, but with that aside, I just wish to keep enjoying the process, and write pieces that make the readers feel true emotion. I don’t want to allow myself to lose the drive and love of writing.
Budden: Tell us a little about your life. What does an average day look like?
Kayden: Without a doubt, I am blessed. I have a loving husband and three beautiful kids. I spend my day like many other working mothers: splitting my time between my kids, my husband and my job. Although this can often be difficult, it is very rewarding.
Budden: What are three of your favorite hobbies?
Kayden: I love reading suspense novels, enjoy my quiet time writing, and look forward to exploring my beautiful surroundings on the back of my husband’s Harley motorcycle.
Kayden Lee's book, Abandoned Angel, can be found at Amazon and Smashwords.
Budden's closing thoughts: Kayden, it surely has been a pleasure catching up with you and I must admit to being intrigued at the suspense/thriller you are writing. I would definitely like to
know when it has been released.
